This is a legacy tournament started in 2001 by Steve Bland and Jesse Bonner and was to be the annual Chiat/Day tournament. However, the senior executives would not allow us to be officially recognized (although they provide some funding). From then on, we called ourselves "the Unofficial".
Like the Masters, the Unofficial is played every year at the same course. In this case, we return once a year to Knollwood Golf Club in Granada Hills, California. Proceeds gained from green fees and our raffle our donated to a local charity. Last year, we donated to the MVP Sports Foundation to help underprivileged kids play Little League baseball in the area. This year, we'll donate everything to the Japanese Red Cross.
