TutHopper is an idea for a web-based academy that teaches kids age 8 to 14 how to code, use advanced design software tools, and set up / architect systems through the use of game levels, videos, rewards, badges and tangible gifts. The business is in its "startup pitch" phase.

The term "young grasshopper" comes from a television series called "Kung Fu," which was written by Bruce Lee. David Carradine played Caine. The story is about a Chinese fugitive that escaped from China into America and the old west. As a child Caine was called "young grasshopper" by his teacher of the arts who was blind, Master Po. Caine was an 11-year-old half American half Chinese orphan who entered the very sacred Temple of Shaolin in the late 19th century China and exited as an adult monk of mystic and martial art prowess. TutHoppers brand, maps, rewards etc. would revolve around this theme, combined with the theme of the grasshopper and the ant. One caveat: hopper must be gender neutral.

The closest competing platforms out there are Code Academy, Treehouse, Lynda, Envato.
