LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are a Spanish Immersion preschool called the "Si School." Si means "yes" and Si also stands for Spanish Immersion.
The Si School is a proven model of preschool Spanish immersion education.
Our mission is to educate and nurture each childs individuality within a culturally diverse, bilingual community, so that every child develops a true passion for learning and an ability to engage in any environment and community.
Bilingualism is what sets The Si School apart from the others. The 2 things that families who visit Si School for the first time notice are the warm and nurturing feeling that every visitor is greeted with and experiences when they walk through the door and The Spanish language component. Every teacher speaks only Spanish in the classroom to every child. This is a unique aspect of the program.
The top three words to describe our personality are
Intelligent, Inclusive, Caring
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
A great logo that communicates our personality:
We'd like the logo that is balanced in all three of those traits.
Heres a bit more elaboration on what those terms mean to us.
Our school is a researched and proven model of education that gives life long benefits to each child. Heres a quote from the Wall Street Journal: Giving a child the gift of foreign language at a young age brings life-long benefits which extend far beyond the realm of language learning itself.
Immersion education is by far the best type of program in the U.S. for children to learn a foreign language, says Nancy Rhodes, director of foreign-language education at the Center for Applied Linguistics in Washington, D.C.
2. Inclusive: To us this means we are community minded, celebrate diversity, and value ALL children. And our program, in additional to learning a second language, the children are also becoming aware of other cultures and countries of the Spanish-speaking world.
3. Caring We love children and give hugs every day. Our first priority is to the kids. We let them lead the way. Our schools have a warm and b=nurturing feeling from the moment you walk through the doors.
The uses for our logo will be on stationary, website, kids teeshirts, interior/exterior signage and banners
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our target audience is:
Parents mostly in their early 30s (30-33) with children going to school for their first time. Our current customers tend to be:
Looking for community (aspirationally)
Like atmosphere and size
And KIDS ages 15 months - 5 yrs old
WHat appeals to parents about our program is 1. The warm and nurturing feeling that every visitor is greeted with and experiences when they walk through the door. And 2. The Spanish language component. The fact that every teacher speaks only Spanish in the classroom to every child is a remarkable and unique aspect of this program.
Not all of our parents are spanish speaking - About 10-20% may have one spanish speaking parent but the majority are english speaking parents that understand the value of having their children be exposed to a second language at this early age and they love the warm nurturing feel of the school.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
There is no logo in particular that we have seen that we love so we are hesitant to even put anything as a guide. We'd like the artists to come at this fresh in a way and focus on the three personality traits we explained above.
But as far as how we want our logo to come across on the scale of very slick/professional to more kidlike/preschool, we could imagine a stylistic balance somewhere between http://www.cambridgemontessori.net/ (we like that this communicates intelligence, inclusiveness, and some warmth) and one more warm/preschool like such as http://misamigospreschool.com/ (This is Very Warm, inclusive but not intelligent enough and we dont really like the drawing style)
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
Si School (note there is no "The") (Also note there must be an accent over the i which is how you write "Si" in spanish - this web program isn't allowing me to do this)
ALso we'd like to see a 2nd version of the logo that has "Si School" and also the words "Spanish Immersion" as part of the logo somewhere. We'd like to have the option to use one with the "Spanish Immersion" descriptor as Si School alone doesn't communicate as easily what we are. For example http://misamigospreschool.com/ has a logo that could include "Spanish Immersion" in it or without. Please do not follow that logo literally this is just to show you an example of what we mean.
