Creative Brief

Who are you?

The Consulting Bench will be a new recruitment website exclusively for consulting professionals and the firms for which they work.

The site will cover Management Consulting, IT Consulting, HR Consulting and more. The site will provide features to allow consulting firms to list their open positions and for consultants to apply to these firms.

What do you need?

We need a logo for the website 'The Consulting Bench'. It's primary use will be in the header of the site, but may possibly be used elsewhere too.

The tagline for the company is 'Careers in Consulting'. You may choose to include this tagline in the logo if you wish.

The draft design of the website is shown in the attached .jpg file. The design of the logo should complement the styling and colors of this draft design. If you think these is a compelling reason to change the current colors/design, let us know!

In typical use the dimensions of the logo will be approximately 250px wide by 120px tall. Some variation from this is okay.

All original artwork files to be provided in Illustrator format.

Who Is Your Audience?

There are two distinct audiences for this site: Consulting Firms and Consultants.

Examples of Consulting firms would be Accenture, Deloitte, IBM, Bain & Co, Infosys and others. You can see the kind of image that they aim to project from their websites.

Consultants are typically college graduates and, for this site, will likely be in the 24-40 age range.

To both audiences the logo needs to communicate a high degree of professionalism. Not necessarily highly formal, but professional nonetheless. If I were to draw an analogy to business dress, this is smart business casual, not necessarily dark suit and tie.

To the Consulting Firm the message should be about efficiency, cost effectiveness and simple operations. They have a tough job, filtering from thousands of applicants to the right candidates for their positions. They sometimes think about this in terms of a funnel, filter or a pipeline.

To the candidate the site is about career advancement -- taking the next step, moving on and up in an exciting career. It is also about matching them with the right opportunity and giving them the best chance of being hired.

It may not be possible to communicate all of these ideas. If not, take professionalism as the starting point. If a design can only communicate one of the other ideas I do not have a strong feeling on which I would prioritize.

You should know that the name The Consulting Bench plays on the idea of 'the bench' being the place where consultants spend time between assignments. I am open to designs that build on a literal interpretation of the idea of 'a bench'. However this is not essential and should certainly not take priority over the other stated objectives.

We Like These Examples

We are open to a broad range of ideas that meet the criteria specified above.

We Absolutely Must Have

The name is 'The Consulting Bench'.

The tag line (optional) is 'Careers in Consulting'

Current colors in the website design are #3399cc and #ff9900. These could be changed if there was a compelling reason to do so.
