What is the exact name you would like in your logo?
Merit Tactical
What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
Professionalism
Trust
Military/Law Enforcement Centric
What logo styles do you like (image + text, image only, text only, etc.)
Because I worry about text scaling down small enough to fit on sew-on patches, if the designer decides to include "Merit Tactical" or our website www.merittactical.com, it should be designed in a manner that makes it easy to omit the text and still have something capable of standing on it's own as a logo. Otherwise, I have no preference about whether or not it is image-only or image+text
Do you have any other info or links you want to share?
We are seeking a professional looking logo. The emphasis should be on an iconic look that is readily identifiable since we hope that we find a winning design that translates into t-shirts, sew-on patches, etc.
I don't have examples of other tactical websites' logos that I like because they are all awful. However, there are several military-issue patches that are appealing to me that I think could provide some direction.
For example:

Small color palette, scales very well to different sizes, readily identifiable, minimalistic and clean.
Out company is called Merit Tactical. You can view our website at: www.merittactical.com to get an idea of what we sell. We do not sell any weapons, only tactical apparel and equipment. I've tried this contest on other sites and have gotten some cheesy submissions: simple bland crosshairs, a lot of emphasis in designs on automatic weapons, etc. Our company is not in the business of selling products with the intent to harm someone...our emphasis is on selling apparel and equipment that protect our service-men and -women from stressful/harmful/risky/etc work conditions.
The logo must be clean and professional. We work with various law enforcement agencies and would like to continue expanding our reach so communicating a professional business that is dedicated to excellent products is key.
