LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
The Southern Cross Legal Alliance is made of 6 law firms, 4 in Australia (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth), and 2 in New Zealand (Auckland, Christchurch).
They're small to medium sized law firms, practising in most areas of law relevant to businesses and individuals.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
A logo that can live in (1) a microwebsite header, (2) in a common badge linking to that microsite that will live on the front pages of all the partner firms' websites, and (3) possibly in stationary/email footers. This last aspect requires it to be distinguishable in black and white, but we're not after actual stationary, since it'll just be incorporated into the letterheads/footers of the respective firms'. If the logo includes text (ie "Southern Cross Legal Alliance") then we'll also need a version without the text.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our target audience are any potential customers of the firms, but particularly focusing on companies and property owners. These are professional firms, so that's a predominant theme we wish to make clear.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We have a draft microsite at http://southerncrosslegal.com/draft/. A logo that can co-exist with that header and colour scheme would be useful, but we are open to logos that go in different directions. Nothing too gaudy, multi-coloured or complex: a somewhat restrained professionalism is what we're after. We're also not particularly set on that colour scheme for the microsite, so if your design sense suggests a completely different colour scheme, we're open to that and recolouring the microsite around it.
Some of the partner firm websites are http://www.parryfield.com/, http://www.emilford.com.au/, http://www.gazeburt.co.nz/, http://www.lewisholdway.com.au/.
One possible design direction we have considered is pursuing the southern cross star constellation as a motif of some sort. If you follow this avenue however, be careful to not get too close to the logo of the similarly named (but completely unconnected) Southern Cross Healthcare (http://southerncross.co.nz/).
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We don't want any logos based on there being a fixed number of member firms (as this may change) or that exclusively places the Alliance within the bounds of Australia and NZ (ie with a map as on the draft microsite), since that may also change, though we may use it in conjunction with a large design on the microsite that does make use of these elements.
