LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
our project , "girlpowerjournals" is a series of journals that will be counter-culture, both graphically and in content. They will feature focused prompts that encourage positive behaviors in a fun, creative way- leading to healthy reflection and development. Message -all girls can transform or develop into the the individual they dream to be. They don't have to be Hannah Montana or a Bratz doll!
We will also use an acronym GPJ and would like that to be defined in this project. Some ideas -letters with a circle around ithem, letters inside the vague outline of a butterfly or just letters clean and simple.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We would like to tag the logo with a butterfyly icon. The icon needs to be a simple outline of a strong butterfly. The design should be clear, and flexible in it's use so it can take on color, pattern etc. (think Apple). We want to convey the idea of positive transformation-of a blossoming. Logo and icon will convey- bold, smart, indpendent, unique. The design should have uniiversal appeal across ages- tweens, teens and adult women (moms) who will be buying for their daughters or as gifts for their daughter's friends.
Design should be simple and sophisticated; timeless rather than trendy while still appealing as something hip and fashionable. We want the flexibility to color/design the butterfly icon to express a certain style or leave it open for users to be able to project their own views upon it. It should be well-defined, inspiring and easily recognized.
Logo and icon will be used on products, website, business cards, stationary etc. We will not be using images of people in our website. The girl power journals logo and icon must be easy to recognize.
For identification and standard use the butterfly icon will be small and somewhere close to the logo. We are open to the butterfly being in motion (in flight) or stationary.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Girls aged 6-12 and those who buy for them (parents, grandparents, relative, friends)
We are targetting adult gift buyers who want positive but hip alternatives for young girls.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
www.americangirl.com - we love their logo. Bold and strong but simple colors and lines. we also like the star icon associated with their logo-
www.bluefly.com - we like the clean simple lines in the logo and the fly icon.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We want something simple, clean, fun, hip and sophisticated. We believe young girls know fashion
and want it incorporated in their things.
We do not want any miss kitty like illustrations, no animation, cartoonlike childish stuff.
