What is the exact name you would like in your logo?
seconds oscillate
What is your industry?
Education and Universities
What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
The logo will be used for an online watchmaking school.
Logo should have a direct connection to watchmaking (and education if possible)
It should encourage the viewer to wonder what the image is (eg based on some part of watches movement or dial - preferably movement)
It must give the impression that what it represents is clean, clear cut and professional.
What logo styles do you like (image + text, image only, text only, etc.)
Image and text (seconds oscillate).
not too many colours.
simple yet professional.
Do you have any other info or links you want to share?
A mechanical watch counts the time by causing a component to rotate backwards and forwards within watch (a little like a pendulum in a clock).
This component is called a balance wheel and i have attached a photo of one below.
The path travelled by the balance wheel turning one way and then back the other way is called an oscillation - hence the name for the school - seconds oscillate.
I really like the shape of the balance wheel I have attached and thought maybe it is possible to do something with it. however I am open to other ideas.
another idea:
Connected to the balance wheel is a hairpspring and this is also important in counting out the oscillations perhaps it is possible to use this shape to come up with something.
finally i have attached a few photos of logos I like (and one that i do not like) to help give an idea of what I am after.
