Oak Lawn Public Library
What is the exact name you would like in your logo?
Oak Lawn Public Library
What is your industry?
Describe the target audience for your logo
Everyone! Our library serves the research and recreational needs of the entire community.
What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
A logo that showcases the tone and character of our librarys new brand "Your Discovery Destination."
In promotional materials, this brand may also be customized to fit a specific department or library offering:
* Your Research Destination
* Your Imagination Destination
* Your Information Destination
* Your Resource Destination
* Your Entertainment Destination
* Your Recreational Reading Destination
* Your Lifelong Learning Destination
* Your Local History Destination
Our library has changed vastly since we started using an abstract line drawing of a book as our logo. Besides books, audio visual material and periodicals, we provide access to numerous resources and services, including PCs, electronic databases, free wi-fi, homebound delivery, educational programs and entertainment for the public.
Style and Concept
What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
Elements you may wish to incorporate are: an oak leaf (though everybody in our Village already does it); a magnifying glass; a compass; or other images that conjure up thoughts of "discovery." However, please bear in mind that the logo can, but does not have to, include a book and try to avoid designs that look too "jungle safari" or scientific. The logo should still be appropriate for a library.
The logo should have a simplicity and clarity of design that incorporates a unique, contemporary style.
You may incorporate our full name and new brand tagline in the logo. However, what we are really looking for is an icon that can stand on its own.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
http://www.greenwichlibrary.org (lower left corner)
http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/library (above name of library)
Just for fun --- Very, very bad --- http://www.gadsdenlibrary.org
We are also open to your creative and innovative ideas.
What colors do you want to see in your logo?
We prefer dark or muted colors. Hunter green and navy are often used for library print materials.
The logo must reproduce well in color and black and white formats, and remain clear and recognizable when reduced to a small size. With our limited printing funds, a two-color or one-color design is preferred.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?
Avoid primary colors or brights.
Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
The logo will be used online, in print, on signage and other normal functions of a logo.
