LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

This logo is for the Portland Leadership Foundation. The foundation is unique to Portland, Oregon and the logo should be the same. The Foundation aims at getting people out of poverty.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We need a logo designed for the foundation. It will be used on letterhead, business cards, the website, signage and possibly apparel.

- We would like to capture KLFs (http://www.klf.org) idea of there being two sides of the city. The left side of KLFs logo will be the eastside for Portland. The right side will be the westside of Portland.

- We would like to have identity markers for each side of the city. For the eastside, the most obvious markers are the Rose Garden (http://tinyurl.com/ddhkv4), the spires from the Convention Center (http://tinyurl.com/ccnlka), and a medium-sized office building. We like how they capture the church in the KLF logo and would like to do that as well.

-The markers of the westside are the high-rise buildings from downtown (http://tinyurl.com/abz8c7) (http://tinyurl.com/aqu7dc) as well as the west hills.

KLF uses a weaving theme, and instead of a weave, we would like to incorporate a river. The Willamette River runs north/south and splits the city (http://tinyurl.com/ammg3p)...we would like to have this captured in the logo. If it looks good to have a river in place of the weave, it would also make sense to see if that works because the Columbia river runs east/west.

- We would like to incorporate a bridge that connects each side of the city. This is very important because we see the Portland Leadership Foundation as a bridge between the folks who normally associate with one side of the river. The Freemont Bridge is the biggest and most traveled that provides the connection between the east and the west side of Portland. I would like to have that bridge be our connection bridge. Colors - use of darker and lighter shades of blue is preferred.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

We need the customers to feel an immediate connection with the city of Portland upon viewing the logo. This is very important. There are specific needs that must be in the design that will tie landmarks from the area into the logo. The logo needs to be classy,

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

We like this logo and would like to base our concept on theirs. We've been in touch with this foundation and have a similar mission. http://www.klf.org

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

Representation of both sides of the city (see above). Markers of the east and west side of the city. Eastside = Rose Garden, Convention Center, Church Building and possibly medium sized office building. West side = Highrise downtown buildings and west hills. Something that anyone familiar with Portland would easily connect with. The river running down the middle and the bridge connecting the 2 sides. (all described in detail above).

We don't want a direct copy of KLF's logo, but their concept is very similar to the one we want to achieve.
