LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Performance Corps is a sports performance training company that trains professional beach volleyball players (players on the AVP tour) and those who want to be. I'm located in Southern California and I primarily train my athletes on the beach (which is different than my competitors who train exclusively in gyms).
My training philosophy is centered around TEAM. Even though the individual players are not all teammates on weekends, they are all part of my "Performance Corps" during training. Our workouts are intense, and incorporate lots of training tools, like kettlebells, sleds, bungee cords, weight vests, parachutes, harnesses, etc. Because I'm on the beach, I don't use barbells or typical gym equipment.
I specialize in movement mechanics, specifically teaching my players how the accelerate, jump, block, and move with efficiency. If you watched me training them, you might see four players wearing acceleration harnesses tied to sleds, sprinting through the sand with me on the side shouting technical corrections to their movement patterns.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
The "Performance Corps" logo should be more about the "Corps" than the "Performance," so if you were looking at the logo from far away, Corps should come into view first, or have the most style, or be within the icon, etc.
This logo would appear primarily on apparel, but it will also be used as a temporary tattoo on the arm of players at tournaments, so the logo needs to be able to be discernible from the stands. For this reason it must be fairly simple and look good in all black. As stated, it's ok if you can only read "Corps" from the stands.
I'll also use it on business cards. I like the idea of a one or two simple colors or a logo that could be in any color (especially colors that resonate with the beach), but as I mentioned the logos would also have to look good in all black.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Professional and aspiring beach volleyball players in Southern California. My athletes like training with me because they train at a very high intensity but workouts are fun and motivating. We laugh a lot. They also appreciate that I'm highly educated in what I do and stay on the cutting edge of the sports performance industry.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
I've attached 3 designs from performance companies that I like. Specifically:
Crossfit: I like the incorporation of the waves and the blue water. I also like the icon and the fact that CROSSFIT could probably be read easily from afar
Extreme Performance: good logo with one word easily read while the "performance" you could read if you were interested/curious enough to get closer.
Peak Performance: same as above
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Even though "Corps" brings up images of the Marines, I don't want a military feel to this. No camouflage or military fonts. My Corps are about teamwork, not a bootcamp/drill instructor style of coaching.
As I mentioned, my training is done on the sand, so there are no traditional barbells, dumbbells, or machines like you'd find in a gym, so the logo shouldn't include those things.
