LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Our #1 goal is to help local small businesses stand out in the crowded online marketplace. We help small businesses market themselves online with premium, generic domains.
Root Orange's revolutionary domain-splitting technology gives every small business access to the most powerful online marketing tool ever: a premium, generic domain name. Small businesses can now lease a generic domain name they have always wanted exclusively for their local market.
For example, Root Orange enables Bobs Brake Service Center in Pittsburgh and Freds Brake Shop in San Francisco to both use the premium, search-friendly domain BrakeService.com by routing the traffic to the correct local website based on consumers physical location. The company then plans to lease countless generic domain names to appropriate local and regional businesses around the country.
The premium real estate of the Internet has been languishing on the sidelines, and Root Orange has finally developed a good solution.
We are Accelerator Finalists at SXSW in 10 days (http://sxsw.com/interactive/accelerator/...), so the logo we choose will get a lot of exposure soon.
The name "Root Orange" was originally intended as a stealth name, but everyone loved it and remembered it easily, so we kept it. Its origins are in the fact that the two founders were roommates in college, and one of their school colors was orange. They have orange roots, and the business has to do with the routing or "rooting" of domain names.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We have been using a stock image with our name for our logo and want to come up with something unique that might not pop up one day in somebody else's logo. You can see our current logo in the upper left corner of our website: www.RootOrange.com.
We want a brand identity that incorporates the words "Root Orange" - aka we DO NOT want an icon that is separate and distinct from the company name. Good examples of integrated logos include Microsoft, Dell, Oracle, IBM, etc. The words may be horizontal or stacked on top of each other.
Our brand identity is "fresh." We help small businesses grow in a new way. Some ideas that have been brought up include incorporating roots, branches, sprouts into the logo in various ways. Our company personality is "Robin Hood" - releasing domain names from the clutches of squatters and making them available to small businesses at affordable rates.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Local businesses of every shape and size. We have domains for law firms, auto repair shops, plumbers, comedy clubs, doctors, and yoga studios. The list goes on and on, but the one defining factor is they're all local businesses, and they're all trying to grow their business and be more visible online. We want them to see us as exciting and fresh and take us seriously at the same time.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
Our current logo - www.RootOrange.com and attached - with one exception: we prefer a logo that is incorporated with the name, not a separate icon.
We are open to serif or sans serif fonts.
We prefer white background, but it's not a must.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
Words "Root Orange".
Color scheme that meshes with our current website: www.RootOrange.com.
