LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
The Montana Environmental Information Center is a nonprofit environmental advocate protecting clean water and air, and a healthy environment for all Montanans. MEIC was recently described in the press as Montanas most influential environmental organization for our many successes in lobbying the state legislature, victories in the courts, and environmental protection laws created via citizen initiative.
The organization was formed in 1973. The state had just adopted a progressive new constitution that, among other things, guaranteed Montanans a right to a clean and healthful environment. We use that in our tag line: A clean and healthy environmentyour right, our mission.
MEICs logo (attached in color and in black only) reflects our focus on Montanas unique environmentits majestic mountains, big sky, wildlife, clean air and water, blue-ribbon trout streams. Thats good. However, it now looks dated, and also does not reflect what has become one of MEICs most important issue areas: clean energy.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
A new logo that is more contemporary in design and better reflects our primary issue areas: clean water, clean air, Montanas landscape, and reversing global climate change by promoting energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy sources. Consider adding the element of a person or people, to convey the idea that the organization values people, not just the environment.
The logo will be on our website (http://www.meic.org), letterhead, and all print materials as well as t-shirts, hats, tote bags, and other promotional items.
The logo should convey an organization that is knowledgeable, credible, professional, approachable, and respectful. The logo should NOT convey the image of the warrior, renegade, righter of wrongs, or outlaw.
The logo should be reproducible in color as well as in black only.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
People who care about protecting Montanas natural environment (not necessarily people living in Montana). Ideally the logo would appeal to all ages, but we would especially like to target 30-50-year-olds.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
Despite the many issues we work on, what we want is a logo that is strong, clean, and simple, and that leaves an impression of what MEIC is all about.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
There are so many logos in Montana with mountains and a river running out of them that we would discourage that imagery. Other than that, we are really open to new ideas!
