I am a marketing consultant working on a rebranding/repositioning engagement for a client, Snyder Cohn, which is a 75-person accounting and business advisory firm headquartered in the Washington, DC metro area. The firm was founded in 1927 so it has a great heritage/legacy, a tradition of excellent client service, and deep community roots.
The firm is undergoing a rebranding in order to update its image and identity. The current image (www.cpahelp.com) is somewhat outdated and unsophisticated and underrepresents the firm's innovative approach, capabilities and energy.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
Snyder Cohn needs a new logo that updates the firm's image to one that is current and fresh, while leveraging the firm's 83-year track record of success. The logo will be used on the company's new web site, on all corporate identity materials (business cards, letterhead, etc.) and marketing materials.
The logo will be used as a standalone and also with one of the following descriptors or taglines:

Snyder Cohn's target audience is primarily small and medium size businesses including real estate, technology, services and medical practices. The typical buyer is a business owner, senior executive or entrepreneur. The firm also serves industry associations and other non-profit organizations.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
While type-only treatments will be considered, we are looking for a graphic logo design that sets Snyder Cohn apart from the typical accounting firm, while still remaining professional. The logo should be fresh, clean and impactful, but not abstract or overly contemporary.
