LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We're a hard rock-ish band based in manhattan. 4 of us have been playing around the city in another band for a few years. We have a new singer and we're actually going to try to make something out of it. I'm sure we'll never be famous, but we want people who've seen a show to remember it. Sound is a mix of hard rock, punk, a little metal (and something the singer refers to as "screamo"). Mostly original, but a few of our favorite covers tossed in. First gig at the end of Feb. We finally stopped arguing about the name this weekend, and I want to get a logo for the band asap.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
Logo. Put it on stuff. Web, posters, etc. The band's name is "Jacko Macacco". Its a long story. Partially an Homage to the band Scissorfight, who have a song with that name. Partially because it has a good ring to it.
The root of the story is gruesome (and not condoned. Save the messages, please), but a bit of interesting history...
The only guidance I can provide is maybe sharp-ish graffiti type lettering on the logo, vaguely similar to this...
but longer letter strokes.
However, any ideas are welcome. We're looking for an interesting concept that'll look good on schwag. Besides that, not too much input just yet.
There have been some reservations about including a monkey on the logo. Maybe it'll look OK, but maybe not. If its a monkey party, it'll probably be rejected.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Drunk people walking by and thinking, "great logo. They must be halfway decent".

I'll get to this later.
