LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are launching a website and need five banners designed for it. The website is a specialist online auction and classified ads site for militaria, military surplus, and military antiques.
Items that will be bought and sold include military (army, navy, airforce) helmets, clothing, field gear, medals, badges, deactivated weapons, vehicles, vehicle parts and components, armour, trophies, maps and documents.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need five banners designed for our website drawing their themes and backgrounds from the various conflicts. Each banner should contain the website name (warstuff) and space for an interchangeable subtitle.
We suggest that the background for each banner is made up of one or a series of selected images, such as those supplied by iStock, to reflect the following conflicts:
Banner 1: Early European Battles (Boer War theme)
Banner 2: World War I (Trench warfare theme)
Banner 3: World War II (European battle theme)
Banner 4: Modern conflicts (Vietnam battle theme)
Banner 5: Recent conflicts (Afghanistan battle theme)
Each banner should depict iconic, heroic imagery of each period of conflict. They should show the kind of artifacts and equipment we expect our customers to be buying and selling in use in the field of conflict, by the main opposing sides.
The subtitles we wish to use and interchange on each of the banners are:
1) Supporting historical preservation, commemoration and remembrance
2) The free to list marketplace for militaria, military surplus, and military vehicles
3) The marketplace for collectors, re-enactors, restorers, museums and preservation societies
4) Securing the preservation of military artifacts and antiquities for future generations
5) Find deals on militaria, military surplus, military antiques and military vehicles!
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our audience is made up of collectors, re-enactors, restorers, interested parties, museums and preservation societies. The audience will be primarily based in the UK and Europe.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Library (iStock) images of war, conflict and battle typically capture what we are looking for.
The photo montage created for the banner on this site is a basic version of what we are looking for, though we require our title to be much clearer, and no symbolism:

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
The colour palette must be neutral to fit with the main site design black, white, grey, sepia, weak / toned down shades of military colours are all favoured.
The banner must display the website name prominently (warstuff) and provide room for one of the specified subtitles. Name and subtitle must be clean and easy to read.
The banners must not include any offensive symbols or imagery, or any dated national stereotypes. Imagery should be agnostic not just reflecting one side in a conflict. Courage, patriotism, supporting ones country, acting in the face of danger and camaraderie are all acceptable, universally demonstrated qualities we favour reflecting in the images you choose.
PSD, layered format is preferred. JPG versions for web.
