LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
I am a sales person/consultant based in Memphis specializing in the field of mortgage finance. My main source of revenue is through the origination (sales generation) of single family residential mortgage loans. I also perform mortgage and financial education seminars for other professionals in the mortgage, real estate and legal services industries. In addition, I also provide services as an expert witness in criminal and civil litigations.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
I am looking for a personal logo for use on a website as well as business cards and other items. It will be used as a personal monogram for me in a number of forms of advertising. I have a unique first name, "West". My last name is quite difficult to pronounce and even more difficult to spell. I sign all of my non-legal correspondence with only my first name. This is to build brand identity for me as I increase my personal marketing. I want to include my name in the design although I am open to a number of interpretations. This can be acheived with a design and my name either below or to the side of the logo. It may also be interesting to include the name in a symbolic logo though this is not a requirement.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Mortgage and Real Estate professionals as well as members of the legal community.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
The design for the opening of the television show "Frasier" is a good example. Simple, clean, and immediately recognizable. It is a unique font with an element of design with the skyline. I have attached a file with the Frasier logo.
Another source of design ideas are from some of the major league baseball team. Some of them are a combination of letters (eg. New York, St. Louis, Chicago White Sox) and some use an iconic letter (Detroit, Atlanta). I have attached copies of these as well.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Even though I serve the mortgage, financial, real estate and legal communities, I want to avoid the use of housing elements in the design (roof tops, simple houses, etc.) and I also want to avoid the use of dollar signs and other indications of currency. Since I am not based in the western US, cowboy or western designs would not be relevant. Ideas of direction (West in terms of a cardinal direction) could be considered, but I think they could be in danger of cliche.
A unique font might be a plus, or even just a "W" in a unique font could be interesting. However fonts must be clear and clean, avoid a "gothic" interpretation as in the Detroit logo attached. Another caution is urged due to a possible subliminal reference to a former President. The W is part of my name, not a political statement. Once again, I am looking for something that when seen will evoke my name
Last, the design must be suitable for use on both a dark (most likely black) surface as well as white. Color is always welcome and encouraged, however, the logo must also be identifiable in one color (think of black on white paper or white on black website background).
