LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Real talk. Local Music. No Commercials. We play your music, your stories, and other audio that you upload to our website. Broadcasting on 89.5 FM and streaming on Vocalo.org.
Vocalo.org is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of democratizing media and creating a truly public media platform where informed citizens like YOU engage in conversation, share ideas, express opinions with friends and folks you don't know from across the Lake Michigan region.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need logo design and a color palette that we can incorporate into the new website that is currently under development.
The logo should include to shapes:
1. A square, abbreviated logo/icon that we can use in places where space is limited.
2. A longer logo that incorporates the entire word "Vocalo" into the art.
Note: We officially refer to the project as Vocalo.org. We do not own the domain Vocalo.com, so in the past, we've always made an effort to emphasize the .org in the url. Now that the site has been around for a couple of years, it may not be terribly necessary to emphasize the .org.
***Including or removing .org from the logo will be up to the designer's discretion.
Additionally, including or removing the frequency of the radio station (89.5FM) will be left to the designer.
We are looking for fresh new ideas on how we should represent ourselves as we move forward with not just the new website, but the project as a whole.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
The vast majority of our audience is located in Chicago, Illinois. Most of our users fall in the 18-32 demographic. The reason that this project exists is to attract a younger, urban crowd to public media. We want to promote the idea of inclusion to those that don't normally feel a part of the conversations taking place in the public media landscape.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
We don't have anything in mind. Feel free to experiment with the designs as you see fit.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
Color palette with a designation of primary and secondary colors.
Short (square-ish) logo to use in areas where space is limited (favicon, etc).
Long logo to be used in the header of our new website and in marketing material.
The short logo/icon can be completely different from the long-form logo. An example of this is Twitter, where the entire word is the logo and the little bird is used in other places.
