Here's the client journey on crowdspring:
1.The client completed an interactive design brief.
- The brief is customized for each project category.
- The client specifies what they want (and don't want).
- Simple and proven process (takes just a few minutes).
2.Our über-talented designers created dozens of unique designs.
In a typical Logo project on crowdspring, many professional designers submit dozens of custom designs based on your brief. See all designs submitted to this project.
- 220,000+ designers from 195 countries.
- The client reviews & gives feedback.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
On2 Technologies (www.on2.com) makes video compression technology (codecs), most notably the On2 VP6 format in Flash and the VP7 format in Skype. Through inclusion in products such as Adobe Flash Player, Skype, AIM and Sun JavaFX, our technology is installed on over two billion PCs and devices worldwide. Our video formats and software are used by leading web sites like Hulu, Amazon.com, MySpace, Vimeo, DailyMotion, Disney, CNN and many others.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
Our new On2 VP8 video codec will emerge from Beta testing soon and we want to have a spiffy logo for its debut. VP8 is our most advanced codec to date. In our own tests it outperforms every other codec on the market today, including H.264. For more info about VP8 see http://www.on2.com/index.php?599.
The successful design will be "classic" and have multiple yet consistent forms, to accommodate icon, web badge, print badge, apparel / gear, full print page / PPT slide, and tradeshow banner deployment. We require a full concept.
We wish to avoid a design that breaks when the background varies across light, dark and transparent shades, and size. Embellished backgrounds are welcome, just provide a simpler variant in all cases.
Avoid textures and embedded bitmaps that make vector representations difficult or impossible. Again, judicious use in a flagship representation is fine, but the overall design should not depend on bitmaps that only work at particular dimensions and resolutions.
Shadows, reflection and other light-source dependent aspects should be consistent across representations. The successful design will include flat variants for each 3D-realistic representation, and vice versa.
All typefaces / fonts must be identified by name. Please also identify the foundry or publisher of typefaces you use so we can know our royalty obligations.
Have fun. We look forward to working with the successful designer.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Any software developer that wants to offer the world's best video quality in their products. These products can be video players, web sites, live video platforms, videoconferencing/chat, video-on-demand, consumer electronics, cameras, and so on.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We prefer sans-serif fonts. We like Ideo. Milton Glaser. Paul Rand. Walter Landor. Lester Beall. We like Jeffrey Zeldman's work (http://www.happycog.com). We like clean designs but not lean to the point of being sterile.
Some logos and sites we like:
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
The full name of the codec is "On2 VP8 Video" but the VP8 is the most important part.
Important: No "film" metaphors, please. Allusions to celluloid, reels of film, projected movies, and old-timey Hollywood metaphors miss the point. Remember, our medium is DIGITAL, not analog.
Also, On2's codec family includes "VP6" and "VP7", in addition to "VP8", so a design that could work for all three (with slight variations) would be very cool.
Themes we're after include:
* Technology leadership
* Video (but not "film")
* Ease of use
