LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Kendal Cottages is a new venture, offering luxury self-catering accommodation (or 'vacation rental accommodation' as it's known in many other parts of the world) in the Kendal area. Kendal is a town on the edge of the English Lake District and not far from the Yorkshire Dales, both very popular with tourists who enjoy the outdoors. At present, we have just one property - a riverside apartment - but may add to this at a later date.
Website is at http://www.kendalcottages.com but there is hardly anything to see there right now.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We'd like a clean, simple, stylish and long-lasting logo for use on our web and on stationery, etc.
The town of Kendal has a river running through it and has a castle. Our first property is situated on the river and has a view of the castle (now in ruins) in the distance ( http://www.paul-johnson.co.uk/forum-imag... shows the view, although this shot is actually taken from the next door property).
I am not sure about the inclusion of the castle in the logo, though, as I don't want people to confuse a ruin with what we're offering!
The area around the town is famous for its scenery - hills and lakes ( http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&... ) - which might be something you'd like to consider.
I think it would be nice if the hills could be depicted in some way. The river or the lakes are a possibility also.
However, we don't want to sway designers too much and would be interested in seeing anything that you can come up with. We are open to anything that conveys the right impression of quality and would make the user want to visit and book with us.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
People looking to go on holiday/vacation. We anticipate that we'll cater mostly for professional couples, but families are a possibility also.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
I posted some logos and my comments on them at http://www.aardvarkbusiness.net/chat/vie... (see 1st and 4th post down). Hopefully this gives you some ideas.
I quite like the Cragside one for how it conveys the general area, although I am not sure about the font. I like the Tullyvar one for its stylish feel.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
