What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
Modero works with customers (home owners, renters, property managers, etc.) to select and install home automation equipment. This automation is meant to deliver on three key themes:
1) smarter - more convenient and easier to live in (lights that come on automatically when one arrives home or turn off when one leaves, heating and cooling that can be controlled remotely, piece of mind from knowing home's status while traveling or away, etc.);
2) safer and more secure - lights that come on automatically in dangerous spots (e.g. stairways), remote sensing (e.g. cameras, vibration, etc.) for security; and
3) efficient - lighting, plug loads (e.g. computers, entertainment systems), and heating and cooling are more tightly scheduled and can be automatically controlled to turn off when not in use. This reduces energy costs and typically provides the customer a payback on their home automation investment.
What logo styles do you like (image + text, image only, text only, etc.)
I prefer a versatile logo that can be used as a standalone icon, an icon with the name (Modero) and an icon with name and tagline (Modero - Realizing Smarter Homes). The last form will probably be the most common use.
A design tending toward the simple/clean end is preferred. Some color is desirable but the palette should be constrained to a few colors at most. The logo will most commonly be used on the screen in website, social media, etc.

Modero aims to use the many new home automation products that are on the market (e.g. Nest thermostat, Wemo lighting and plug-load controls, Wink lighting and plug-load controls, etc.) to bring home automation out of the luxury market and into the average home (<$1,000/install, 2-4 year payback on investment through energy savings).
The target demographic are those who would like to have more awareness and control of their homes but are not the tech-savvy early adopters that can identify equipment and install it themselves. Modero helps our customers identify and install the right products to meet their needs in one turnkey solution.
The focus of Modero's marketing is smart, safe, and secure because marketing surveys indicate that these are the factors of most interest to the consumer. However, Modero's vision is to make energy efficiency a keystone of how we deliver these other features.
Modero is latin and roughly translates as I measure, I manage, I control.
