Henry Chesbrough, a professor and executive director at the Center for Open Innovation at UC Berkeley, wrote Open innovation is a paradigm that assumes that firms can and should use external ideas as well as internal ideas, and internal and external paths to market, as the firms look to advance their technology. Companies cannot afford to rely entirely on their own resources, but should instead leverage other companies and experts to introduce new business opportunities. The boundaries between a company and external resources have become more passable; innovations can transfer inward and outward. (Chesbrough, H.W. Open Innovation: The new imperative for creating and profiting from technology. (2003) Harvard Business School Press).
ConneXions is a program that creates a path between a company and external resources. We facilitate open innovation by bringing the external environment in to create innovative products and services, improve business operations, and gain customer insights. Working with external innovators can provoke creative thought, provide a discovery path, and stimulate actions that lead to profitable growth.
For example, Style, a clothing design company, wants to expand their business to handbags. Executives from Style would share their strategic vision with ConneXions. ConneXions would bring together Style executives and relevant venture capitalists (VCs). The VCs would provide the executives with information on handbag designers. The executives would select particular handbag designers to come and showcase their designs. ConneXions, using disciplined tools and techniques, would coordinate, host, and facilitate meetings between the handbag designers, VCs, and Style executives.
ConneXions is a program made up of business professionals with common interests. Our mission is to bring together business leaders with experts who can help grow their business by sparking innovation and providing tangible solutions.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo for the ConneXions program. We would like the logo to emphasize the human network aspect of the program.
