What is the exact name you would like in your logo?

Project Odessa

Helmet cameras allow us to record our adventures in new and exciting ways. However, finding the highlights in the footage we bring home takes way too much time. This logo is for a software product that allows helmet camera owners to spend more time reliving their highlights and less time finding them in the video they record.

The way the software works is that after the user records something theyd like to bookmark for later, they cover the lens of the camera, usually with their hand. We call this block to bookmark. When the user gets home, the software looks for the bookmarks in the video and cuts out the previous few seconds into a new file, representing the actual highlight. You can watch a video of this on http://www.projectodessa.com. The interaction of covering the lens might be good inspiration for the logo.

The software product is currently codenamed Project Odessa until we figure out how to bring it to market. In the case that we bring this to market as a standalone product (vs. integrating the tech into an existing product), wed like this logo to be usable with the new name.

We need a logo that will appear in the following places:
- Website: http://www.projectodessa.com (ignore the current site design, were open to new ideas)
- Favicon for website
- Promotional and instructional videos
- Software application itself as the application icon
- Business cards
- Facebook page graphic and thumbnail
- PowerPoint presentation
- Possibly t-shirts (low priority)

Our audience is helmet camera owners. These are mostly male outdoor enthusiasts, aged 16 to 40. They tend to enjoy more extreme sports like snowboarding, kitesurfing, mountain biking, and sky diving. They like recording themselves doing these sports and sharing the highlights with friends. Therefore, they are familiar with using technology and the web.

Our audience does not yet know about our product. We are in phase 1 of the business, which means we have a working prototype but we want to see what kind of buzz we can generate. We hope to communicate the beauty and simplicity of our solution (block to bookmark) to a very painful problem (footage overload).

What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?

Cover the camera lens to bookmark a moment, outdoor adventure, easy technology

The most popular helmet cameras on the market are made by GoPro (http://www.gopro.com) and Contour (http://www.contour.com). You can see how they brand their own products. They feel modern, sleek, and techy. We should be somewhat aligned.

What logo styles do you like (image + text, image only, text only, etc.)

Image + text.

It is a high priority for the logo to accommodate another product name. If we decide to bring this to market as a standalone product, wed like to have some continuity between Project Odessa and whatever we end up calling it. Therefore a new product name should fit well. If we have to make compromises with the number of words in the product name, lets have that conversation.

Were not sure if its a must have, but it might be helpful to have some sort of illustration in the logo to communicate the interaction of block to bookmark (e.g. covering the camera lens with your hand). This might help with the memorability factor but we would like you to be as creative as you like.

If you include a picture of a camera in the logo, it cannot look like any specific camera currently on the market. It should look generic.
