We are a group of Chicago-based TV producers and comedians who are developing a website and several web TV shows that look at this crappy economy from a comedic perspective. Think: "Wonkette" meets CNBC meets The Daily Show. Everyone knows the economy sucks, but it doesn't mean we can't find some humor in all of this.
For instance, we might have an article as simple as a review of a low-priced restaurant, or as quirky as a hypothetical tally of the amount of property damage done by James Bond in "Quantum of Solace," or as simple as fun frugal tips. The accompanying web video series follow the same overarching theme, in regards to "business + comedy".
The site is called: "Tame the Bear" (with "bear" referencing the "bear market" we're in). Internally, we've referred to the site as promoting "recession recess" (possible slogan???), in terms of a more conceptual description of our vision.
We need a logo for our website masthead. The logo needs to display the "Tame the Bear" text in some incarnation (we're not that picky in terms of capital letters, fonts, or colors, etc). Everything beyond the "Tame the Bear" text is up to you and your limitless imagination.
As far as size goes, we're thinking along the lines of 250-400 px Wide, and 50-160 px Tall. Anywhere in that range would fit our website masthead.
We're focusing on readers who aren't all that business-savvy, and who expect to derive some kind of entertainment from reading the site and watching the series episodes. Otherwise, we might tend to focus on 20-35 year-olds, but not all the time.
-Really like the simplicity and use of the gradient-square background.
-In terms of conveying a more casual and lighthearted feel, this definitely does the trick. Especially love the liberal use of colors.
-Contrasting colors are nice here, and the stylized "O" in the word "Mob" is particularly cool.
We absolutely must have: the "Tame the Bear" text
