LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We're a software startup that provides high-end software design and implementation services. Our customers are academic institutions, life sciences companies, and anybody who needs well-designed web applications. Our emphasis is on user-oriented, goal driven design, working closely with customers, and delivering results quickly and with insanely high quality levels.
We can up with the name "Beacon 16" because we've developed software that increases visibility throughout the software development process. Providing beacons, if you will.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo which can be used on our web site, business cards, and whatever collateral material we develop to promote the business. It should look good at multiple sizes and be reproducible on paper as well as on the web. We expect it will be primarily used online.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
We have two target audiences. One is software developers who might be interested in using the various open source tools and frameworks we have developed. The other is business customers, often at large organizations, who we're asking to decide to assign large projects to us. We need to be engaging for the former, but not so outrageous as to scare off the latter.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We like clean designs that demonstrate efficiency. But we also want something iconic and memorable. When we think of beacons we think of lighthouses, so incorporating a lighthouse into the design would be one direction designers could consider - but that's not a requirement for the design.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Nothing retro.
