LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We're called girltank - like a think tank but with smart, dynamic, socially-active girls from around the world at the helm. You know, the Nike Foundation's 'Girl Effect' project says the "revolution will be led by a 12-year-old girl." We believe them because we know that girls are brilliant and creative and that when you combine their collective genius you have a power before you that can transform the world.
So how does girltank figure into the revolution?
Well, we're the space for girls all over the world to connect, build, support, and encourage each other to participate in the burgeoning social change movement that is spreading around the world. We are a movement inspired by girl and young women changemakers - from six continents and in most regions - who are making a difference for their communities, standing up for causes, using their creativity and determination to bring forth transformative and long-lasting initiatives for the people and communities they care about.
girltank represents itself in the world as a virtual community that celebrates the achievements of these particular girls and young women, inspires others to get into action, informs visitors about what's happening with girls and young women around the world, and shows girls new to social entrepreneurship how to get involved. More specifically, girltank provides news, interviews, features, forums, and updates about events, contests, and grant opportunities relevant to girls and young women.
We're launching a soft version of our website on September 1st. And so we'd love to find a smashing, bold, exciting logo that captures the energy of this dynamic network before then.
Oh, btw, were all volunteers who just happen to care about girls. A lot. We hope you care about girls, too. We definitely appreciate your taking time to help make this dream come true. You rock! And because we believe in community building, we'd love to acknowledge the winner of the contest with a shout-out on the website. Who knows? Maybe some members of our network will also need design services as they grow their humanitarian projects.
And finally, even though we are a site dedicated to the empowerment of girls, we encourage both men and women to submit designs. We don't discriminate!
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We'd like you to try and incorporate the feelings of these 10 adjectives into your design:
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
-Girls and young women ages 14 - 26, although a logo that speaks to the median age - a 19 or 20-year-old junior or senior in college - would be ideal.
-Girls and young women from a variety of cultures, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and the Caribbean, and from urban, suburban and rural locales. So the logo also needs to speak to common feelings/beliefs/ideas present in girls and young women from many different backgrounds.
-Girls and young women who are particularly interested in change and social entrepreneurship...girls who are go-getters, visionaries, leaders, and forward-thinkers.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We are open to colors that speak to girls and young women, although we do not automatically mean pink. As a matter of fact, we'd prefer to stay away from pink. Ultimately, we'd like to also get boys and young men to support and be a part of this group - and we don't want to scare them away!
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We are flexible about making 'girltank' one word or separating 'girl tank' into two words. And we imagine the logo in lowercase letters, but we're not wedded to that look.
In other words, we're open. So surprise and delight us!
Originality and creativity are much appreciated!
