LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We're a small, startup medical/healthcare supply company, OnlineHealthSupply.com. We've worked in the industry for several years and have finally decided to create our own company and give it a go. It's our hope that one of you will be able to produce a knockout logo that will help us establish our identity as a professional medical supply company.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo that will establish our corporate identity as a trusted medical supply company. We're a new company, but we don't necessarily want to appear that way to our clients. We're also small, but we're hoping you will provide a clean, professional logo so we can look as established and large as some of the bigger players in our industry.
Our logo will be used primarily on our website (we're an ecommerce company, after all :) ) as well as on company communications with vendors and customers.
As far as colors, we're pretty open to whatever you come up with. We're a pretty easy bunch to please so as long as the colors used in the logo tie together nicely (and would form a great palette for a website) give us your best shot. We do request that you avoid neons though. The typical "medical colors" (white, blue, red, black, etc) would be fine, but we're open to other creative ideas that use vibrant colors.
Speaking of websites, we'd ideally like to continue with the same designer that provides our logo to product a mockup of our new online store and all the accompanying buttons commonly found in a shopping cart. We don't have the biggest budget in the world, but we'd like to develop a relationship with someone that does great work. We have about an additional $300-400 for someone to develop a template for our online store - home page and product page. This would just need to be completed as a .psd file and we'll be able to take it from there. Sadly, we're programmers and have zilch design skills....but that's where you come in!
Please note that the website mockup is NOT part of this project. Treat it more as an FYI that we would like to have completed within 1-2 weeks after we have chosen a logo. Our team is chomping at the bit to launch our online store and, well, it'll need a logo and design before that can happen.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our target audience is primarily medical professionals - doctors, nurses, physicians assistants, as well as medical institutions - schools (universities all the way down to K-12), hospitals, and private practices. We'd like them to see us as a professional, reliable medical supplier for their office/hospital/school/department's needs. We primarily sell typical medical supplies and equipment - gloves, scales, scrubs, anatomical models, charts, and books.
Our secondary audience is home consumers. We provide many healthcare products such as body fat monitors, sound conditioners, and water bottles to name a few.
At the most basic level, our company provides products that help our customers either stay healthy and active or get well quickly so they can keep enjoying life.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Please take a look at the following links of competitors' websites and logos. These are the companies we'll be going up against once we launch.

Sites we do not want to emulate:
I realize we aren't asking for a website, but these will give you an idea of some of our competitors and how they present themselves online.
