Thanks for stopping by. You look great.

Here's the scoop:

We are a two year old t-shirt printery in Ann Arbor, MI. Things are going very well, and we decided it's about time to settle on a legitimate logo. This is a little weird for us - we fancy ourselves creative, and all of our t-shirt designs are done in-house, but this is too important to trust ourselves with. It's basically the same reason we can't get an office puppy.

We really want to see some range in designs. I promise to be very involved with feedback, and appreciate the effort you put in!

Also...if you ever need some t-shirts printed or prototypes to sell to stores - just let me know. We do a lot of sample printing.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

Okay, these are the specs:

This will be our primary logo. It will be featured prominently on our website, and should be multi-color but capable of being boiled down to one color in at least a derivative form (we put it on the backs of a lot of shirts).

Vectors, please (I feel like that's a given, sorry if that's a n00b request)

CONTENT:

Ann Arbor is a hippy, college town (like Austin, TX, Berkeley, CA, etc.) It's a little more laid back than most, and we are hoping to capture some local flavor. We stop short of including bongs, but a non-cheesy nature theme or some other aspect of the town could work. Many companies in town use a tree. That would probably be a good idea.

Our name is the ANN ARBOR T-SHIRT COMPANY. A t-shirt in the logo seems obvious, and we are very open to it.

Perhaps most importantly:

We are a small company in a town that loves small companies. Our company culture is defined by the fact that we typically manage to get our clients to stick around for a half hour or more when they come to get their shirts just to shoot the shit. We make friends.

Our relationships with our clients are HUGELY important to us. Not in the corporate "the customer is always right" sense, but in the "I could call half of my clients and get a beer with them right now if I wanted" one. We really want our logo to encapsulate this feeling. If you've seen the movie Gran Turino, think of the relationship between Clint and his barber - that's what we aim for, and that's what we'd like our logo to represent. If you haven't seen it, now you have an excuse to.

Lastly, feel free to reach on this one. Want to try to use an animal / anthropomorphic entity? Let's see it! I promise to give prompt feedback, and won't let you run too far down a path that isn't going anywhere.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

As I said above, our client loves small businesses. They hate that they don't know the cashier at Kroger's name, and wish they had an old-timey grocer who they could say hi to at the local football game. They prize individuality and uniqueness. They buy local and want to save the world. They ride bikes in the Michigan winter.

...and they buy t-shirts from us. They come from student groups, marathons, churches, theater groups, biker gangs, and bar crawls.
