LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Limbe Labs is a tech-incubator based in the seaside town of Limbe, Cameroon. We work with software engineers and tech-savvy people based in Sub-Saharan Africa to develop their ideas into successful startups.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo to build the core brand identity of Limbe Labs. The logo will be used for our website, blog, print, presentations and signage in our office. Ideally, the logo can be adapted to a fixed aspect ratio design suitable for a favicon and Twitter profile image.
Some of the key concepts that we are trying to convey with our logo are the following:
1. Entrepreneurial
2. Innovative
3. Techie
4. Collaborative
5. Creative
Our business is geared toward building a community of programmers, investors and entrepreneurs so we would like our logo to be inviting and capture a spirit of creativity and innovation through technology.
We experimented with the alliteration of our name as in an idea raised to the power of 2 with Limbe Labs. This is just one potential angle. While the use of an African theme is acceptable, the design should avoid playing into overused clichs and stereotypes.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our target audience is software engineers based in Sub-Saharan Africa, tech-savvy individuals, investors, university students and entrepreneurs with a passion to see African web startups succeed.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Google Labs an obvious one for its name, the logo captures the experimental side of Googles beta products.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We are open to all creative designs. Our logo prototypes used blue and orange, but were not married to these color choices.
Must haves: Clean, simple, fast-loading design appropriate for low-bandwidth connections. Favicon and twitter sized representations of the logo design. Must work well on a white background.
Dont want to see: Representations of the African continent or a globe, unless you think you can do it in a funky way. No African clichs (shields, spears, animals, etc.).
