LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Our hope is that CatchTheLingo.com will become 'the' community site for those who study language abroad by offering:
*Good quality independent, community driven, objective information. The site will boast such features as a comprehensive destination guide written by a backpacker who is learning Spanish while travelling in South America, a guide to studying language abroad, language learning tips etc. etc..
*Efficient compare the market technology for finding the best foreign language course, the right 'Teaching English as a Foreign Language'( TEFL) Course and the most suitable accommodation abroad.
*A secure booking and payment service for the above
*A location to host the community through forums, blogging facility etc etc.
The smaller and less important sister is UseTheLingo.com. This site will cater for those looking to find work abroad, including but not limited to volunteering and teaching.
From a branding and design perspective the sites will be pretty much identical, one just complimenting the other. As such we are really looking for the logo to be based around CatchTheLingo and to be slightly modified for UseTheLingo. Please show both.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We are looking for a logo that promotes the language of the people abroad (the lingo) and one that emphasises 'community spirit'. We are very much open to abstract ideas and to still animation\character art; nothing too complicated; not too many colours etc. (think stick men\clever animals..). We really like the idea of using speech bubbles and other representations of language. Lingo should probably be the centre point of the Logo.. We already have(via an agency) enough good logos based just on just the letters so please please don't be afraid to push the boat out and use whatever you think is inspiring.
The logo must be OK to be used on business cards, letterheads, t shirts and of course the website. We want something in tune with our target audience.. independent, young and fun loving. Our logo should be eye-catching and memorable and unique. Try and keep it simple.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Educated. 16 40 independent travellers and backpackers. Multinational. They are culturally conscious and eager to learn and try new things. CAUTION: they tend to reject over commercialisation and hard sell's.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
No messy scribble handwriting
No globes (too clich and overused)
No smiley Faces (too childish)
Nothing that reminds you of classroom learning. No blackboards, books etc.
Nothing corporate! No metallic colours etc. etc..
Dont base logo around abbreviations CTL UTL
