Business Info
Business Name
Laredo Technical Services, Inc.
What do you do?
My company provides professional services to the federal government. For example, we provide specialized security consulting to the Department of Homeland Security for the problems along the U.S. border with Mexico. My company also specializes in providing technical support to federal agencies in the areas of cyber security and Information Technology. In a nutshell, my company is focused on providing security to our federal agency customers.
What is the exact name you would like in your logo?
Target Audience
What is your industry?
My industry is the federal government sector (security related matters)
Describe the target audience for your logo
The target audience are people in the federal sector who are serious about the security of our country. My biggest customer is the Customs and Border Patrol (border security) and my other big customer is the Department of Defense (cyber and Information Technology security). Both agencies need to trust the contractor to provide optimal, professional, and discreet defensive security support.
What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
The name of my company comes from a city on the U.S. border with Mexico: LAREDO. That is, my company is minority-owned, and has as its first loyalty the United States of America. (By the way, we are located in San Antonio and not Laredo proper.) As people who come from immigrant family members, we cherish our Mexican heritage and we also cherish our American freedoms and liberties. Secondly, we maintain the highest values and integrity. "Our word is our word." And finally, we want to communicate through our logo that we are an enduring company that will last for many, many years. Too many small businesses in the federal sector are here-today-and-gone-tomorrow. We want to convey the idea that we are long-term and trustworthy.
Style and Concept
What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
I do my banking at Frost Bank here in Texas (www.frostbank.com). I am fascinated by the styles and imagery of the bank, which conveys the rock-solid character of the Texas west. This is *NOT* kitsch cowboy melodrama, but a worldview with a serious view on basing business on the solid base of ethics and hard work.
What colors do you want to see in your logo?
The colors (whatever they be) must convey the "feeling" that the business is an enduring legacy company built on a solid work-ethic.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?
The colors (whatever they be) must convey the "feeling" that the business is an enduring legacy company built on a solid work-ethic.
Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
The logo will be used everywhere, and will be the "label" of the company on stationery, website, corporate office, and dress shirts for the employees.
Do you have other info or links you want to share?
I do not know why, but I see myself associating my company with a bank, although I have nothing to do with banking in my industy! The reason I make this association is because of the trust and endurance that banks in Texas maintain. For example, I mention Frost Bank. They have an unofficial Texas code, which goes as follows: "I will be as hardy of mind as I am of body. I will be a straight shooter and a square dealer. My family name will be sacred, and my word as good as any contract. I will remember the Alamo. I will stick by my friends. I will eat more chicken fried steak." The last sentence is humorous, because we should not take ourselves SO seriously, however, we should take our ethics and values seriously. So we want to avoid any association with the fast-and-make-a-quick-buck, which is reminiscent of the statement in Texas that you are therefore "all hat and no cattle."
