LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are opening a new and exciting boutique comic speciality store in Hattiesburg, MS called Southern Fried Comics. We will specialize in new comics, graphic novels, and selective related merchandise. We are located in south Mississippi, just 1-2 hours north of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.
Our mission statement should help provide a better idea of what we are creating:
Mission Statement--Southern Fried Comics ultimate goal is to encourage and cultivate reading in our community. We will accomplish this by creating a brand and retail environment centered on the current and emerging comic book reader. Our store will be new, vibrant, clean, inviting, and professional; our staff will be approachable and willing to help. More knowledgeable customers will be able to find what they are looking for because the store will be well organized and the signage will be clear. The less knowledgeable customers will be encouraged to explore the merchandise and feel comfortable enough to ask questions. Our brand will be cool and our store will be fun and inclusive.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We are looking for a logo image that links "southern" with "comics." We are not looking for literal interpretations of the brand name (no deep fried comics please). And we don't want the brand name in the logo.
The brand name will appear under the logo in parentheses in all lowercase: (southern fried comics) We are using the VTPortableRemington font for the brand name. Since the brand name will be in black, we are looking for a colorful logo that stands in contrast to the simple black/white brand name.
We have discussed the idea of putting some "southern" image/symbol (as in a magnolia or cotton boll, not a confederate flag) inside a comic "BAM" explosion type thing (see files), and using a pop-art style. But we are open to consider just about anything, so please feel free to be creative!
The logo will be used in exterior and interior signage, on our website, and on promotional items (stickers, magnets, t-shirts, hats, etc.).
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
We are looking to draw in a wide variety of consumers, from current comic fans to kids. But in contrast to more stereo-typical comic book stores in the area, we will have a open and bright store, so hope to draw in non-comic experts, including women and families. We are located 2 blocks from a University campus, so we want something that will catch the interest of the students.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
On www.customartonline.com/featured-project..., there are several art styles that caught our eye:
Comic book modern (right side)
Comic book classic photo art
Comic book classic fun PopArt
Attached are some examples of the "BAM" explosion type images that we have liked.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
Our logo must be unique, we don't want a generic logo that could be for any random comic store across the country.
