Who are you?
I am an independent writer in need for a title logo for my upcoming book Janky Nostalgia. It is a Young Adult novel to be self published in 2011 in print and various digital ebook formats. The story features classic arcade gaming along with a heartfelt story of a troubled boy trying to find to find his way in the world. The logo is for the crusty local arcade that gives him an outlet away from an abusive home life.
What do you need?
I need a text logo that is reminiscent of all of our favorite games from the 80's to early 90's, while still unique enough to stand on its own. Donkey Kong, Q-bert, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Street Fighter 2, and all of the other cool marquees.
I plan to use it for my blog, book cover, and business cards.
Who Is Your Audience?
The book is designed for both young adults and geeks in their 30's who grew up with a love for the arcade. I hope that a combination of fun composition, nostalgic lettering, and colors would attract the eye of both groups.
We Like These Examples
Check out classic arcade marquees like Donkey kong 1-3. I love the bouncy quality of the text and the border surrounding the logo. Check out this list of arcade logos for some more inspiration: http://www.rotheblog.com/arcade-games/ar...
We Absolutely Must Have
Janky Nostalgia - I love the following colors: Light Blue, Purple, Yellow, White, and fuchsia. Please feel free to make up a color scheme if this one doesn't work for you. I would like the words to be in two different styles, partially clashing each other. Janky- is retro and blocky, think 3D bitmap/arcade titles font. Nostalgia - is neonish, curvy, round, and a bit funky. These are suggestions, but please have fun with it.
I love encapsulated logos like it is a sticker with a border around the edges. Think of old Nintendo arcade logos on the on the side of an arcade cabinet or the marquee lettering.
