What do you do?
Manufacture instant soups for between-meal snacks.
How many pages of illustration do you need?
1
What do you need illustrated?
We need an illustration of a chef. The product is an instant soup so the chef should be cooking and/or serving a cup/bowl of soup. This image will remain constant across the different soup flavors so it should not show any specific ingredients nor imply any particular flavor.
Does your illustration need to be a particular size?
This illustration is for use on retail packaging, the box will be 5.75x5.75 so the approximate dimensions for this illustration should be 3 inches wide by 4 inches high. We prefer a vector-graphics file format such as Adobe Illustrator for the final deliverable.
Target Audience
What is your industry?
Food and Beverage
Describe the target audience for your illustration
Retail or online consumers.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your illustration?
Corporate branding is 1950s retro. The goal is to convey happy people typically in a homey or comfortable environment. Despite the emphasis on home, this chef illustration should look like a professional cook. The chef should look happy and approachable, perhaps even jolly.
Style and Concept
What lillustration styles do you like?
1950s Americana. Pop art. Please go to shutterstock.com and search for "retro clip art" and the results will give a good idea of the type of look we are going for.
What colors do you want to see in your illustration?
We are leaning towards black/white/gray to fit with the 1950s style. We may want to add an accent color to help indicate product flavor; for example, when used for tomato soup, the chef's clothing could be red.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your illustration?
We prefer a limited color pallet so we can modify one accent color for each flavor and keep the rest neutral black/white/gray.
What adjectives should best describe your illustration?
Comfortable, happy, homey.
Where will you use the illustration (print, website, etc.)?
Retail box.
Do you have additional info or links you'd like to share?
We are located in the USA and are looking to establish a direct and possibly long-term relationship with an illustrator for other aspects of this project such as design work on the lids, labels, logo, and dielines for the packaging; therefore, we strongly prefer USA-based designers.
