LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

Horizons Youth Services is an organization that provides programming and training for youth, including innovative youth leadership training programs. We offer twice a year Student Government Association Leadership Conferences for students from regional Job Corps centers. HYS also has contracts with the federal Department of Labor to operate five Job Corps Centers three in Kentucky, one in Texas and one in California.

Job Corps is a federally funded educational and job training program for students who are economically disadvantaged and who typically have not done well in the traditional educational system or who need additional training/education to move into the job market. Job Corps centers are residential facilities based on the college campus model, where students take academic courses to complete their high school diploma and/or get their GED, and enroll in career technical training programs that provide them with the skills they need to enter the competitive job market.

Habitat for Humanity is an international organization with affiliate chapters throughout the United States. Habitat for Humanity provides the opportunity for low-income families to own their own homes by tapping partnerships and volunteer labor to building modest, quality, low-cost houses and provides low-interest mortgages for families who might otherwise not qualify to own their own homes.

Habitat for Humanity and the Dallas Region of Job Corps have partnered on a number of Blitz Build projects to provide houses for families who lost their homes as a result of the hurricanes that devastated the Gulf Coast Region of the United States in 2005. This partnership involved Habitat for Humanity setting up the projects, providing the property and materials, with students and staff members from up to 20 different Job Corps Centers throughout the United States volunteering their time and skill to construct the homes. Students generally come for a week at a time and work a full week or more before returning to their centers.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

Wed like a logo that reflects the partnership of Habitat for Humanity and Job Corps something that shows these two organizations working together to make the world a better place. Ideas for the logo can include the theme of Working Together to build a Better America, or Improving the lives of Americans, one house at a time, or Building Homes, Rebuilding Lives. These are just ideas. We need the idea of these two organizations working together. The logo should include the names Habitat for Humanity and Job Corps. Ive attached the logos of Habitat for Humanity and Job Corps for background/consideration. However, the logo does not need to include either of these. The logo needs to be in color. We would like two color versions one in two color, and the other in four color. However, it needs to be simple and bold enough to work well in B&W.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Our primary target audience students and volunteers who will be working at the Habitat/Job Corps building blitzes. However, the logo will also be used in media releases, signs for the blitzes, on t-shirts for participants, etc. We want a logo that will work for all Job Corps/Habitat partnership projects, not just the specific blitz build. The first use of this logo will be for a four-week Blitz Build in Lafayette, La., slated for November and December of 2009.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

We are open to any color, font, style, or design ideas, as long as the design is simple, easily reproduced and will work in both color and black and white. Some artistic representation of partnership/working together for the good of society would be good. Since the projects involve construction of houses, some artistic representation of houses (roof lines and walls simple) or construction (tools such as hammers, saws, etc.) would be good.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

The logo must include some artistic representation of partnership and houses or construction, and must include the names Habitat for Humanity and Job Corps. It must be in color, but we would like, if possible, two color versions one in two color and the other in four color.
