Home Sharers of SF is a non-profit grass roots, community group whose members participate in the Sharing Economy Movement by opening our homes to domestic and international visitors. We meet once a month to share, support, educate, discuss and disseminate information amongst ourselves on Home Sharing topics. Since the start of Airbnb and other similar online platforms, many home owners in SF have been able to transform their lives by sharing their homes with visitors. The extra income home sharing provides has allowed Members to, for example, pursue qualifications for their "dream job" and even has allowed some to stay in their homes. It has also given visitors the choice of a non-hotel experience of staying with a local resident and experience life in a city in a different, unique way. Home Sharers has grown to over 630 members in 18 months. We are creating a community that provides help and support on a wide variety of common issues, ranging from best practices, legal, insurance and financial help, to social events.
