LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
friendsell.com is a startup currently in private beta. We are a few weeks away from our public beta and open registrations. However, before we do that we want to make sure we have a professional logo that will serve our permanent needs. Today we have something that was hacked together in 15 minutes.
Here is a little about what friendsell.com is about:
Our motto is "because dibs are better than bids". We are a new kind of social classified site. We let our members choose how public or private to make their listings. By limiting potential buyers to friends and family, you can trust that you're not going to get ripped off by some d-bag on craigslist or ebay. Plus, we find that people would rather give first dibs to people they know. However, if you prefer to deal in the public model (ala craigslist.org), you can do that too. In my case, I tend to mix and match. There are certain things I only want family to know about, certain things I only want friends and acquaintances to know about, and certain things I want the world to know about. These options are all available and incredibly easy to use.
read our first blogpost at http://friendsell.wordpress.com for a slightly longer description.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
A professionally designed logo that will help put us on the map. We've got a great site, now we just need a great logo to compliment it.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
The world :) OK, not exactly, but we're not far off. We believe 50% of craigslist users would benefit from friendsell (we're excluding spammers, scammers and adult section folks).
On top of that, we are opening up the market to a whole host of users that are interested in social selling and buying within friends, family and interest groups.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We are big fans of social sites such as twitter, facebook and wordpress. They all have logos that are memorable, but aren't overly complex and go really well with their overall look and feel.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We suggest you visit our site http://www.friendsell.com, or better yet register and use it. We've created a special invite page for the crowdspring designers that will allow you to register now (we are currently in closed beta to the public).
We're open to suggestions from you, the experts. Here are the only requirements:
* We do like the current color scheme, so it should either match it or be close to it. If it makes sense, we are OK to update the color scheme of the site provided it still has that clean look and feel
* The name "friendsell" has to be readable. Nothing too abstract that you can't easily read it.
* Limit the amount of "extra noise" unless it really helps bring out the spirit of friendsell.
Other than that, be creative. We will be providing lots of feedback to the entries so you'll know if you're on the right track or not.
