FOSS4G (Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial)
What is the exact name you would like in your logo?
FOSS4G 2011 Denver
What is your industry?
Describe the target audience for your logo
FOSS4G is the major global conference regarding open source software for geospatial (mapping) applications. A large portion of the audience are software developers, other attendees are business people who use the software.
What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
We are a professional, hi-tech, global conference
We want to convey a positive impression of Denver as a venue (likely through a mountain element in the logo, though we are open to other ideas)
We want continuity with previous conference logos through inclusion of the FOSS4G ribbon element in the logo (see below)
Style and Concept
What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
Image and text. The logo must include the FOSS4G ribbon element, which can be seen in previous logos at http://foss4g.org/static/index.html. We lean towards a logo that has similarities to the Sydney logo from 2009 and/or the Cape Town logo from 2008, with the ribbon depicting the mountain skyline that is visible from Denver.
What colors do you want to see in your logo?
No strong preferences. The ribbon element and the rest of the logo can be any color.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?
No strong preferences
Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
Both online and in print, but used more extensively online.
Do you have other info or links you want to share?
The Logo should include the words FOSS4G 2011 Denver. FOSS4G is the primary term, the terms Denver and 2011 can appear in either order after FOSS4G, either term could be somewhat distinct from the other ... so could be "FOSS4G 2011 ... Denver" or "FOSS4G Denver ... 2011".
Overall we like the Sydney logo from previous conferences and think that a similar concept but with our own style, depicting mountains, may be a good option. But we are open to other ideas conveying something about Denver / Colorado/ USA.
Logos from several previous conferences are available online in various formats at http://www.osgeo.org/conference/archives...
