LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Our product is called Firefly and we're looking to have an icon character logo and separate stylized name designed.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We would like to have a firefly character logo that is separate from a stylized version of the name "Firefly." The character logo without the name will be used in things like a small 50 x 50 icon, with a non-white background color.
I don't think the firefly character should have too many legs (maybe just 2 instead of 6) so it doesn't look buggy. The character should end up being cute in the way that the twitter bird is cute. At the same time, it shouldn't look like a knock-off of the twitter bird or logo name.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Internet users that like the "Web 2.0" look.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
The various twitter bird logos are nice in terms of look and feel, and being cute:

Here are some firefly illustrations that are nice, but maybe just a bit too cartoony:

A possible nighttime background (just the swirly cloud parts):char

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
A square firefly character icon on a non-white background that is separate from the stylized "Firefly" word.
