LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are an independant walk up espresso bar in the CBD, pop apprx 1m. Founded in 2006 we are wanting to refresh our logo and image ahead of new marketing intitiatives.
We have made a difference in our market by being totally committed to good coffee. We provide our customers a better product and more enthusiastic service that's genuine.
We are interested in and research every step of the seed-to-cup chain from how coffee is grown, how its picked and processed, sold, packaged, transported, warehoused, roasted and managed on premisis.
Many of our coffees are direct relationship coffees where we know the farmers and their communities. We go to coffeee farms annually. We get to pick the finest lots of their harvest best suited to espresso coffee roasting. This coffee is often specially picked, process and packaged for us or our representatives.
In store we share the story and detail of these coffees. Where they came from, their terrior and varietal and how they should taste in the cup (flavour profile). e.g. smooth rich coco chocolate with some bright red ripe fruit notes and a long lingering aftertaste of chocolate and spice.
We participate in barista competitons and mandate our staff to work to these standards behind the counter.
We are good industry members and try to encourage similar standards and approaches to other businesses and professional baristi.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
(1) existing logo developed based on portafilter spouts, new font. Maybe just leave as Ristretto with options adding Espresso Speciallyts and also Premium Coffees
(2) new logo reflecting ristretto as a coffee company who roasts and covers all stages from seed to cup.
(3) Basic collection of images, motifs (e.g. stripes, patterns), elements to be incoroprated across various media (brochure, web).
view logo at www.ristretto.com.au and on our blog page.
We strive for a clear modern professional image that is a bit edgy (forward) but has street credibility and tradition. We're sporting.
The current logo is based on coffee portafilter spouts. We'd like to retain this element.
New influences should include 60-80's Italian/ European road cycling graphics and motifs. We like thier style and sportiness! We're into black/ white/ silver/ greys (all with a natural hue - e.g. rhino black). We are interested in options of adding a single modern "lifestyle" colour. Should be natural like a light sky blue or a nice green. But we don't really want to be Web 2.0. Genuine and authentic is us, different and leading. We are craftspeople.
We see ourselves moving into coffee roasting to deepen our skills, connection and control over our product. In which case we will be working with fancy coffee beans - beyond the specility grade "blending" coffees most commercial roasters use. Currently we are known as an espresso bar but this may move more towards a coffee company in general. This is important.

http://www.inseasoncoffee.com/ (we are on the same vibe/ messages regarding seasonality here)
http://www.vervecoffeeroasters.com/ (logo is pretty cool, colours and finess is great - this is the standard to go for)
http://shop.squaremilecoffee.com/ (great minimal style, strong image and similar seasonal coffee focus to us)
http://www.ninthstreetespresso.com/ (minimalisim, integrity and clarity is FANTASTIC, though its all a bit too home made)
http://www.uglymugcoffee.com/ (really really really like their coffee packaging and overall boisterous but TRUE messages and style. WAKE UP!!! - future web and packaging inspiration reference. Web design looking a bit homemade nowadays though)
http://www.counterculturecoffee.com/ (we like the colombian/ mayan influence and use of photos)
http://www.novocoffee.com/ (these guys are fresh too)
