What is the exact name you would like in your logo?
eatnutrients (I am open to the possibility of capatilizing the words or using all caps)
What is your industry?
health, web applications
Describe the target audience for your logo
Someone who has a goal of enjoying good health and is motivated to alter their diet to meet their goal.
Right now the site is best for those from the USA, but I plan on internationalizing where nutritional data is available.
Demographics is all just a guess:
I would expect this to tend towards higher education level and income level. I would not expect as many under the age of 18 (not interested) or those over the age 65 (not into web applications as much)
What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
health & nutrition - logo is for a web application (website) that gives people interactive tools to help them meet their nutritional goals and enjoy better health.
authoritative reference - users need to be able to trust this site as a nutritional reference
personality/playfulness - Going overboard might undermine authority, but I see the logo as an opportunity to add some personality.
Style and Concept
What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
text and image
What colors do you want to see in your logo?
I am trying out more earthy colors right now like these: http://vis.stanford.edu/protovis/jsdoc/s...
But any colors that emotionally connect someone to health could work. Don't worry a lot about the logo colors- those can be redone once there is a great logo.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?
Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
Do you have other info or links you want to share?
If you think putting the ".com" in the logo will make it better, then go for it.
Below is what comes to *my* mind for the logo, but don't let this limit *your* creativity- the best design probably does something I haven't thought about or anticipated.
There could be graphics representing both words in eatnutrients. Eating could be a mouth or a spoon for example. I have thought about going a more pac-man like route, but anything that directly resembled a pac-man would probably be a trademark infringement.
My main problem is visualizing nutrients. I want to promote obtaining nutrients mostly through eating whole foods, not taking a bunch of vitamin pills. I don't like the typical food cornucopia, in part because they are usually full of limited kinds of food (sometimes just fruit) and probably also because they are a very traditional symbol that seems out of place in a modern world. I also don't like the government food pyramid. A nutrition label would be a possibility, but something constrained to a black & white box like that seems like it might not make for a great logo. Given all this it might be better to not visualize nutrients but instead do something like having a mouth eating the word nutrients.
