LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Boombox.fm is a new service that let's you store your music online allowing you to access it from any device (Mobile phone, desktop, etc).
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a versatile logo and a separate icon that goes along with our service that's simple, clean, and clever. This project includes two things: a logo, and an icon. Most logos we've seen on this site have both a name and icon that make up the logo, but we want to be clear that the icon must be usable as a stand alone item.
The icon will be used in our desktop application (program icon), mobile clients, and website.
The icon portion needs to work at 128x128, 64x64, 32x32, and 16x16 (for mobile phones). You can create separate icons for loss of detail between those resolutions if need be, but they need to be roughly the same icon and correlate to each other. Vector graphics are great, just keep in mind those resolutions and edit appropriately so it looks good at each size.
The logo doesn't have those same resolution restrictions, but we'll use it on our website, business cards, etc.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our audience is anyone who uses digital audio over traditional formats (say CD, vinyl, tape, etc), and wants to access that music from multiple locations without manually syncing their music collection, podcasts, etc.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Apple's logo is great. It's iconic, simple, clean, and versatile which makes it easy to apply in lots of situations.
Another great design: http://www.studio7designs.com/_ui/images...
Currently our logo is http://www.boombox.fm/images/boombox_log... that logo looks ok, but the headphones by themselves don't serve as a decent icon. This is an example of a logo that won't work as an icon. You don't have to use any part of the existing logo. In fact we'd prefer you didn't. We would like an original concept from you.
We've been really impressed with the quality on this site so we're sure you can wow us. In the immortal words of Tim Gunn, "Make it work!"
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
It needs to work on both white and dark backgrounds. The current logo is on a black background, but we have versions that work on white as well. A 2D logo is best. Not interested in 3D rendered logos. Again clean, simple, and clever is best. Be careful with cliches.
