LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are a new church start. We are primarily young adults, all with children. We love families and kids. We are not traditional but are conservative in values. We truly seek to be relevent in people's lives by meeting them where they are so that we can lead them into a knowing and growing relationship with Jesus Christ by meeting their real, practical needs. We are not the typical church. We do not mind trying things differently or doing things in non-traditional ways. Our core values are love, relationships, service, teamwork and excellence.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo where the picture can "stand on its own" as well as the name of the organization. The logo will be used on all sorts of medium; signs, shirts, cards, stationary, website, etc. We need for the logo, both picture and words (lettering) to look good in grayscale to help cut the cost of reproduction. We also need to be able to easily reproduce the logo's lettering - the font. We will probably have to add to the wording with things like "www." or ".com" or ".tv" Our website, for example, will be www.thejourneyfellowship.tv. I am not sure that this is possible, but would like it if we could do that. Also, for example, we may separate the picture from the wording by putting the picture on the back of a shirt and the wording on the front. Therefore, both wording (lettering) and picture need to look great together and separate.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our target audience is young adults with families who don't have any relationship with a church. We are striving to reach people who are going to church, who don't have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We don't want the logo to conjure up any preconceived opinions of "here's a group of people doing church the same old way." We want to create a sense of curiosity, creating the question, "who are these people." We want the logo to communicate "excellence" (professionalism). We want people to see the logo and think that what we do, we do to the best of our ability, with excellence.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Apple, Nike, McDonald's, Target, Wii, FedEx, Essential Church's logo on www.essentialchurch.tv. I like the simplicity of these logos. They are memorable, easy to remember, and are easily recognizable. Each logo, the picture can stand on its own and needs no words, but wording can be added and still look just as good. I also like the fact that each logo isn't overyly colorful. They use one or two colors at the most. With FedEx and Essential Church, I love the hidden reference to meaning and purpose of the organization. FedEx has the "arrow" that can be seen in the "E" and the "x," meaning direction or on the move for a mailing company. Essential Church has the four hearts surrounding the "e," signifying their primary "core value," which is love.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We must have a font that is easily reproducible. We must have a logo that looks good blown up and small, in color and in grayscale, and that looks good with picture/wording together and picture/wording separate.
