LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Carnegie Robotics builds exceptionally hardened robotics components and systems to improve productivity, reliability and safety in target markets of agriculture, mining, defense and oil and gas production. For the most part our robots operate in outdoor environments. In mines, inside pipes, in fields, on battlefields.
Carnegie Robotics has hardware design and software development expertise that meet the demanding productization and up-time requirements in our target markets.
Carnegie Robotics core value is early and rigorous testing of its products and continuous tracking of defect root cause and corrective actions. The company uses its own equipment as well as certified external testing companies to span robotic performance, environmental, electrical test needs.
Carnegie Robotics uses state of art software for mechanical design, circuit design, failure analysis, software engineering, issue tracking and product cost estimating.
Carnegie Robotics principals have decades of experience designing, building and testing some of the worlds most advanced mobile robots, vision and planning systems, and integrated autonomy systems.
Carnegie Robotics maintains a strategic relationship with Carnegie Mellons National Robotics Engineering Center. Carnegie Robotics licenses intellectual property, conducts joint marketing and leases space and equipment within the Center.
Carnegie Robotics values key partnerships that enable it to embed state-of-art technologies within its products and move quickly in manufacturing, fielding and supporting its products.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo that will be our used on our website and stationary. Note that we are *NOT* in the consumer markets, so we dont need something super flashy. We are not going to be known for our logo (sorry!) but rather our robust products. Our products will sell for $1000 to $50,000 each and in very small quantities. Meaning that people will not surf the web to find us. They will hear about us from another customer most likely and then come to our website to check us out.
Our main core value is robust robotic components. So I really want to convey that in the logo. Simple and robust. Not fancy and frail.
We are connected to Carnegie Mellon University and strongly connected to Carnegie Mellons National Robotics Engineering Center (www.rec.ri.cmu.edu) but it is unlikely that it would make sense to tie either of these into the logo.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our customers are managers and buyers in senior positions in large companies (mining, oil, defense). They are quickly interested in what is under our hood in terms of product capability and pricing. They are not going to be hooked or sold by the logo. Rather we want the logo to show professionalism.
We intend our difference as compared to some competitors to be our focus on robust, hardened robotic components. For instance a camera vision system. It might include camera, processor and a bunch of software. Many companies could make and sell this. We make products that are durable, robust and reliable.
We are known somewhat already to our customers. This is not to hook them the first time. It is to show them that we are serious.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
I want a logo that is simple and elegant in its simplicity. Consider options that are just the two words (Carnegie Robotics) for instance.
Our competitors would include irobot.com. See their logo. Simple. Nice.
Think of the GMC Built Tough ad campaign that they had recently. Tough looking logo with bolts spinning onto it. Probably too fancy, but you get the idea.
Think of product companies that make rock-solid products. Dewalt is another excellent example.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
Bare minimum is the two works Carnegie Robotics and a trademark symbol.
I dont want it glitzy or fancy.
