LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
The Camden Public Library was built in 1928 and it serves the town of Camden, Maine (pop. 5,000+) and surrounding towns. Being a small Maine town, there is much pride and emphasis placed on history and sometimes change can be tough. The Library is quite literally the Anchor of downtown Camden as it has close to 170,000 visitors per year. Like many organizations, the library has changed over the years to meet the needs of its community. In an effort to more effectively brand the library in the 21st Century, we are looking to make some modifications to our logo.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
Help us modernize our logo! This current logo for the Camden Public Library needs an update. We want to keep the core elements of this design in place, but wed like to see it represent the library in the 21st century.
Words that have come to mind in an attempt to update our logo have been: modernize, simplify, straight lines, cleaner and clearer, sharpen, and not so old looking!
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our audience is both the same audience we have been serving for many years, but also new users and new generations of users. As library services evolve to meet 21st Century needs, we want our image to evolve as well.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
It's important that the core elements of the library's existing logo remain (e.g. logo derived from the 1928 entrance to the building). However, we're looking to simplify and 'modernized' the logo we have now.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Its important that the core elements of the logo remain in place, however changing it in a way that embodies some of the words used above, will accomplish what were looking for. Its not so much a new logo, but a remodeled logo. We have included a black and white image of our current logo along with a photograph of the library's original 1928 entrance. The logo was derived from this entrance.
