This is a great link that shows how many old cattle brands were come up with- http://www.cardcow.com/42435/famous-catt...
The story of the flying or winged spur is noted here- https://wingedspur01.wordpress.com/tag/h... and also here: http://genforum.com/johnston/messages/86...
You may note the crest and the use by Bentley motor vehicles- we want to do a western version of this. We don't want to do a 'fancy' detailed drawing of this that would never be able to be branded on a cow.
The family motto is "Nunquam non paratus" which means "Never unprepared". This latin could be neatly tied in as a variant or hidden within a printed brand. Gus Mcrae, a la "lonesome Dove" used pig latin as a motto for the Hat Creek Cattle Company- Uva Uvam Vivendo Varia Fit.
