LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

BLAST is the ballroom club at Northwestern University in Chicago. BLAST is an acronym that stands for Ballroom Latin and Swing Team. We have social dance, performance and competition team components in our club and offer classes for all levels of experience at discounted costs (compared to area dance studios). Our members are university students and young adults in the Chicagoland area.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

A strong logo that we can we be proud to use on all our materials for many years to come. This will include business cards, flyers, posters, website, t-shirts, jackets and more. While wed love to have a great 4-color logo with gradients and all, its absolutely essential that the logo can easily be reproduced in 2-color or 1-color (not just grayscale). Were poor students, so most of our on-campus materials will be printed in black and white. Additionally, we want to make sure the logo will look great on things like jackets where it might need to be embroidered.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

This is a bit multi-faceted. Firstly, wed like to attract current students as prospective members. Secondly, wed like our current members to be proud of their team and the image it portrays. Thirdly, wed like to impress (intimidate) the other university teams at competitions with how professional and put-together our team image is :)

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

Here are some examples of ballroom dance logos that we like (the images are also posted in the file):

http://www.ceroc.com/

http://exquisidance.com/

http://www.youth-dancesport.com/ (We like the Dance Sport Logo with the dancers in silhouette and the half moon outline)

We feel these designs are successful, however we are not attached to any of them in particular. It is just a starting place for you :)

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

We would like to see some executions of a dance couple silhouette in place of one of the letters. The couple should be simple and abstract enough that it still reads as BLAST and not BL(obscure figure)ST. Because our name is BLAST, wed like to stay away from overly soft and delicate typefaces and image treatments. It should be bold and exciting. But please no literal blasts or explosions :)
