LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

The basic idea is that we provide anonymity and filter avoidance for a variety of online applications including BitTorrent, browsing, and instant messaging, hence the name, BitBlinder. You can check out our current website: http://bitblinder.com to learn more about what we are doing. (Note, InnomiNet is our corporate name)

We are building on top of the Tor open source project making it both faster and easier to use and hopefully attracting a much wider customer base in doing so. Think open source, P2P anonymity. In our network, customers either pay for service, or contribute bandwidth and get reciprocal service (ie free) for themselves. We expect the price point to be around $5-10/month or of course free for the other group. We will sell ourselves based on: price point, trust (open source so no malware/backdoors), and speed (compared to Tor).

Our current logo is an eclipse which I thought was a nice metaphor for anonymity. The idea for the color scheme was shades of gray- another metaphor. We have no attachment to the current design, logo, fonts, or colors.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We need a logo primarily for our website and other web content though we will use it on our business cards and occasionally in print so be mindful of subtle gradients and the like which might not transfer over. We would prefer the logo to be presented on a white background but its not essential. We would also prefer the logo to contain our name, BitBlinder, though if you have a great idea that doesn't, its ok. If you use a crazy font, please let us know so that we can maintain consistency in branding.

We would also like to stay away from green to avoid being confused with uTorrent.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Unfortunately we don't have exact figures for our target audience since we are attempting to build a new market and we still haven't officially launched.

You can imagine any number of different people using BitBlinder, including:

BitTorrent users

people at work (getting around filters)

people avoiding marketers

activists / bloggers

law enforcement

whistle blowers / journalists

More potential users can be found at: http://www.torproject.org/torusers.html....

We are operating under the assumption that the largest group will be BitTorrent users who are typically young 18-35 and tech savvy. However, this is only an assumption and at any rate the logo shouldn't alienate the other users. Keep in mind, our audience is international.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

Someone mentioned our current logo looks like a bomb- we would like to avoid bombs in the future.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

Public relations is a major concern for us since online anonymity has the potential for major abuses. We do not want a design that is shady or secretive. It would be good to inspire thoughts of safety, security, privacy, and protection (no overt padlocks, or armor). Other positive attributes that it could suggest are freedom since we are very involved in promoting free speech online, community since people are cooperating and providing service to each other, and cooperation.

Finally, simplicity and subtlety are best.

Good luck!
