LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We're Rincon Vitova! We produce beneficial insects, bugs that eat other bugs. We are pioneering experts in the biological control of pests in a wide variety of situations (farms, gardens, institutions, universities, city parks, even casinos). We were founded in 1950 by the late Everett J. "Deke" Dietrick, our founding entomologist, who wove integrity, reliability and innovation into our profile. He defined our philosophy with an emphasis on building habitat diversity for conserving pest natural enemies and who is regarded as the father of the biocontrol industry. In other words, we promote a holistic perspective involving building and nurturing agroecosystems whose biological complexity result in their stability and natural protection from pests and diseases.

We sell approximately 160 products, half organisms and half non-organisms, i.e. traps, baits, seed mixes, and insect monitoring tools from magnifying lenses to vacuum insect nets.

We also do our best to serve as an educational resource. We offer pest management advice to the public, support our non-profit partner organization The Dietrick Institute for Applied Insect Ecology and promote our companies green values through example (we have solar powered electricity and heating, edible landscaping, offer recycled compost to local gardeners and run company cars off of biofuel).

We're a family owned business, well recognized in the industry and a tight-knit group of co-workers!

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We're in the process of revamping our website and need an updated logo to match. We want to portray a clean, calm and professional feeling in tune with the "nature" of our business. But the logo doesn't NEED to have insects or leaves in it! Most other companies in the industry have lady bugs, etc... we want to stand out from them. We also want to connote the idea that we are a forward thinking company. In more ways that just being in love with bugs.

Take a look at some of the examples we have posted to get a feeling for what we've been using (for better or worse).

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Farmers, landscapers and pest management practitioners (experts who access, recommend and implement the use of beneficial insects in a variety of situations). The majority of our beneficial insect customers are located on the West Coast. We have a large fly control market throughout the country with large concentrations in California and the Mid-west (especially race tracks).

Our customers tell us that we stand out because of our customer service and technical knowledge about what we're selling. Our company has a long standing history with the organic and sustainable agriculture movements and is viewed as a trusted commercial and informational resource.

WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:

Here are a few things we've been using and like, but are not necessities.

Fonts: Trajan Pro, Arial, Verdana

Colors: #006600, #008800, #F8F8D9, #326732, #FFFFFF

We've uploaded some of our current ads to help get a feel for what we currently have. We like the insect logo, but feel it's too complicated for practical use. We have 5 icons that we use to explain what we call the "Deke's Five Features of IPM" The new logo SHOULD look good alongside these. Also, on the work-in-progress website (www.snailer.us), you can get a feel for our new presentation. You can also check out our current website www.rinconvitova.com for a logo we really aren't fond of. A final issue to consider is that we use a line drawing of the logo for a "classic" look on our print catalog. Look for it in the examples.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:

The logo must incorporate well with the above listed in "We like these Designs"
