LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
BetaFlash is an on-line community site that provides services and information about rock climbing to rock climbers.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a logo to be the face of the organization. This logo would be the foundation of our branding and would be used on our website, business cards, marketing material, and apparel.
We would like the logo to be text with an object/icon above or beside it. Volcom is an example of this type with Volcom text and the diamond stone above it.
We would like to be able to use the two elements together or split the text and object and use them seperately. For example, you will see apparel with the Volcom text by itself, the stone by itself, or the text and the stone together.
We are open to incorporating the object into the text if a great idea comes through.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Rock climbers. Athletic, competetive and driven men and women in the age range of 18-40. Users would use the site to track athletic performance as well as gain knowledge about the climbing industry. This audience is also eco-friendly and enjoys the outdoors.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
Outdoor Technology - http://www.outdoortechnology.com/ - I like that they have a mascot or icon. The icon is streamlined and simple.
Mad Rock - http://store.madrockclimbing.com/ultra-d... - I like the monkey caricature. It is not a realistic monkey but a free-form drawing of a monkey. The caricature is simple and fun. It has a sense of humor. I do not want the symbol to be created from the initials, BF.
I have posted some files of other work I like on crowdSPRING. Reference the attached logos for the next three examples.
AptGeek - like the two color text and lowercase. I love the guy in the logo. Coming up with an illustrated, streamlined, fun mascot would be a big plus.
Service Reef - I like the font and the two color text (not the icon).
For the color palette, I like green's and charcoal/medium greys. A sample of the green can be found at http://www.urbanclimbermag.com/themag/cu.... It is the green color in Urban.
Although my primary choice of color is green and grey, other colors I prefer include orange and blue with the charcoal grey.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
Must have text (BetaFlash or betaflash) plus icon, symbol, or mascot.
We DO NOT want the text to be in a cartoon style. The text should be fierce and cutting edge.
